Paradise in Sole
Mixed media and beeswax on stitched Japanese printing paper
In 1629 John Parkinson published a book by this title, the first English treaties on horticulture subtitled
‘A Garden of all sorts of pleasant flowers which our
English ayre will permit to be nourished up’
Based on the Persian ideals of symmetry this work
took that symmetry and gardened the wild flowers
of one village across the boundaries.
